Title: Resolution of a problem by Varopoulos on Banach algebras using quantum information processing
Abstract:
In 1975 Varopoulos asked the question whether the commutative Banach algebra formed by the p-Schatten space (1 ? p??) on the Hilbert space
l_2 endowed with the Schur product is a Q-algebra. We resolve this
question in the positive using a surprising link between Banach space
theory on the one hand and questions about entanglement and non-locality in quantum information processing on the other. This link enables one to cross fertilize results and ideas from two seemingly unrelated fields.
